ABOUT THE SOCIETY

The Anglo-Boer War Philatelic Society was founded in 1957; during its first year 41 members (4 of whom are still members) paid a subscription of 7/6d. We now have about 160 members world wide with a subscription of £10.00.

'The Anglo-Boer War Philatelist''The Anglo-Boer War Philatelist' is published four times a year (March, June, September and December). The contents of the March 2008 issue included:

  • Society Notes
  • Covers to 7 from Orange River Station
  • The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
  • Army Telegraph cancellations used postally
  • An auction list of the late Ken Griffith's unique collection of books & memorabilia

Postal Bid Auctions are held twice a year, sometimes more frequently. Almost all items are individually described. 10% commission to the Society; no buyer's premium.

A Convention, comprising Members' Displays and a Room Auction, is held in conjunction with the A.G.M. at Royal Leamington Spa (this year at The Falstaff Hotel on Sunday 11th May).

Spring and Autumn meetings are held in London at The Union Jack Club, Waterloo (next on Saturday 1st November at 11.00am).

The annual subscription is £10.00 (airmail supplement £4.00), due in January. Payment should be made in sterling or US dollar bills. South African Members may pay in rands to Mr. Harry Birkhead, RDPSA, PO Box 723, Bedfordview 2008, South Africa.

Prospective members should contact the Secretary.

Membership records are entered into a secure computer database which is accessible only to the Treasurer. Information entered is limited to name, postal address, telephone, email address and subscription status.

To comply with the provisions of The Data Protection Act 1984, we ask any member who objects to this information being held on computer to advise the Treasurer accordingly.
